Beef.
Now, I’m all for animal rights. I believe that cows have the right to die for my dinner. I believe that hens have the right to lay an egg for my breakfast. And so on. I mean, where else do you get that meaty flavor except from meat? Where else do you get a delicious juicy meal that’s not full of empty calories? I’m sorry, vegetarians, but I cannot eat enough beans to satisfy my meat cravings. I am an ominivore.
My problem with beef is usually that I have a cut and don’t know the best way to prepare it, or I know how I want to cook beef a certain way, but am not sure which cut to buy. To learn more, go to the BeefIt’sWhat’sForDinner website.
Okay, I’ll get to today’s recipe…

Grilled Sirloin Steak
1 or 2 sirloins, depending on how many you want to serve. I made two for seven people and had plenty leftover. I sprinkled this spice blend on both sides of one of the steaks. My dear hubby is insistent about having only salt and pepper on his beef, to allow for the pure meat flavor.
1/2 T. salt
1 t. black pepper
1 t. garlic powder
1/2 t. onion powder
1/4 t. paprika
1/4 t. chili powder
1/4 t. cumin
1 T. brown sugar
Grill the way you like it. My steaks were an inch thick and I usually grill over medium heat for 5 minutes per side. I slice into them for a peek before taking off the grill. Be warned: steak will cook a bit after you take it off the heat, so remove it before it reaches the doneness that you prefer.
