Easy Breakfasts
March 6th, 2006
Today I am bringing you some quick and easy breakfast ideas. Skip that trip through the drive-thru. Give up the sugary dry cereal. Offered here are 5 healthy and quick breakfast choices.
1. Yogurt parfait - a little vanilla yogurt, some chopped fruit (strawberries, blueberries, or mandarin oranges are good) and some granola or grape nuts. If you’re on the go, put it in a cup and take off.
2. Cheesy scrambled egg - It really only takes a few minutes to fry an egg. Heat a dab of oil in a skillet, scramble your egg with a dribble of milk, and pour into the pan. Shake some salt and pepper on top. After a minute, flip and lay a slice of cheese on top. If you’re ready to race out the door, put it between two pieces of bread and eat while you drive.
3. Good Old Quaker Oatmeal - I really like oatmeal and the individual, serving sized packets are just right. They come in a multitude of flavors, too. Add a small glass of milk to help fill you up.
4. Peanut butter on toast - Whole wheat toast with natural peanut butter makes an energizing and filling breakfast. The bread gets you in gear and the peanut butter keeps you there. Everyone in our family likes a little raspberry jam on top.
5. Breakfast smoothie - If you have a blender, this only takes a minute. Pour some milk and yogurt in, add whatever fruit you like (you can hardly go wrong) and blend away! Pineapple and orange makes a good combination, so does strawberry and banana. You’ve got your calcium, your fiber, and fruity vitamins. Pour in a cup and you’re ready to go.
Try one of these if you need a change of pace from cold cereal. See you tomorrow!
