I pack my hubby’s lunch.

I know that’s a throwback to days gone by. Days before women’s lib and the feminist movement. Days before women wanted to be a person in their own right and not a servant to their man. I don’t care.

Because I can see the benefits in packing his lunch. You see, it’s all about perspective. Is he making me pack his lunch? Am I catering to his every command? Am I a doormat? NO!

When I pack his lunch, I am in control. I am in charge. I want to pack his lunch. (No, I am not jumping for joy each morning as I assemble his lunch box.) But the overall picture is that I like to pack his lunch.

You see, I CAN save his life by packing his lunch. There are several ways this can happen:

1. He eats too much. Restaurant portions are way too big and he inevitably eats more than he should

2. He gets additives and preservatives that are bad for his health, such as MSG. He often comes home with a headache after consuming MSG.

3. He gets a lot of fat and it’s usually bad-cholesterol-raising trans fat.

Wives, don’t consider it a burden to pack your husband’s or your child’s lunch. Consider it a blessing. You have a chance to bless them and to receive some side benefits yourself. (It also helps use up the leftovers in your fridge.)

Here are some ideas that go beyond the classic sliced meat sandwich:

The extra few minutes it takes to pack a lunch for the family you loves pays off exponentially. Enjoy it - you are blessing them and yourself at the same time!
