The Simplest Apple Salad Ever
Apple salad makes a quick summertime side dish or dessert for your family. Cool and crunchy, it is perfect for a quick finish to almost every meal.
When making anything with apples, you have to know which type of apple is best suited for the job. There are oodles of varieties of apples out there, and everybody has their favorites. Here are some of mine:
Yellow Delicious – a classic that is sweet, somewhat crunchy, and suitable for baking or eating raw. Yellow Delicious apples make great applesauce.
Fuji — sweet, very crunchy when fresh, and juicy. Excellent for eating.
Granny Smith – very tart and very crunchy. Great for the sourpuss in your family. Good for baking.
For more about other varieties of apples, check out the Washington Apples website. For a really extensive list of apples and their descriptions and uses, look at the Natural Hub website.
Below is my favorite recipe for apple salad, basically because of its simplicity. Use your imagination and add other ingredients if you like!
Apple Salad
4 Fuji apples
1 small tub of whipped topping
4 full-size Snickers candy bars
Wash the apples and peel them if you like. Core and cut into bite-sized chunks. Using a sharp knife, cut the candy bars into very small pieces. They’ll crumble, which is just what you want them to do. Then throw the candy bars, the apple chunks, and the whipped topping all together in a large bowl and toss. That’s it. It’s that easy.
Watch it disappear!
