Many Hands Make Light Work
October 10th, 2006
This is something that my grandmother used to say. I never had the good fortune to know my mother’s mother, but I have heard many great stories about her. Enough to understand the kind of woman she was.
Raising eleven children on a farm must have been difficult on the best of days, but Grandma Della, I’ve been told, had a sense of humor.
Now, I don’t know if those words, “Many hands make light work,” came from some long-ago philosopher or if they were her own, but they are simple and wise, just the way I like a good quote to be.
They are also truly inspiring to moms and dads of large families, coaches, teachers, foremen, and anyone else in charge of large groups of people. We just have to remember to work together instead of against each other. If we think of ourselves as a team rather than opponents, things go very smoothly.
So, next time you are facing a task that seems overwhelming, grab some extra hands and tackle it together. Look at your helpers as a blessing, not a burden. Don’t try to go it alone, take the help that is available.
That’s all for today, folks… More good food tips and recipes will be back tomorrow…
Have a super day!
